Character Creation / Character Type Editing

Character types are edited within the Character Types Window. To open the Character Types Window, select a character in the Levels Window and click the Edit button next to the Character Type pop-up menu in the floating Inspector Window. (It is also possible to open the Character Types window by double-clicking on a character; be sure the Double-Clicking on Object Opens Editor checkbox is checked in the Preferences Window.) For more information on selecting objects and using the Inspector Window, see the Level Object Manipulation section.

The Character Types Window is divided into three tabs: General, Additional Properties, and Character Routines. The left side of the Character Types Window contains controls for selecting, creating, and deleting character types. (See the Object Type Management part of the Common Production Tasks section for more information on the use of these kinds of controls.)

Character Type General Property Editing

General Character Properties determine which character set is used to provide a character type's appearance and sounds, which weapon the character type uses, and which contrail types are produced, among other things.

Editing Character Type Additional Properties

Editing a character type's additional properties entails specifying an exhaustive assortment of numerical values affecting character behavior and physicality.

Editing Character Routines

Routines may be performed when a character of a given type engages in certain actions. The Character Routines tab is used to match these actions to certain routines.
