For those who are interested, here are some instructions on how to obtain and build the Power Game Factory Game Engine source code (Note: this isn't for all Power Game Factory users- just those of you who want to do things that Power Game Factory can't already do!)
Part A: Sign up for SourceForge.net
1. Create a Sourceforge.net account at http://sourceforge.net/account/registration/
2. Send an email to support@sawbladesoftware.com to let me know your Sourceforge.net user name. I will then add you to the project as a developer.
Part B: Obtain the Source Code
3. After I have added you, obtain a Macintosh program called "Versions", which is available at http://versionsapp.com/
4. Using Versions, click the big button in the middle of the window labeled "Repository - Create a new bookmark to a repository URL"
5. In the Name field, enter "PGF Game Engine"
6. In the Location field, enter the following address:
https://pgfgameengine.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/pgfgameengine
7. In the Username and Password fields, enter your Sourceforge.net user name and password.
8. Click Create. Accept the security certificate when prompted.
9. Click the newly created pgfgameengine bookmark and select the Browse Tab. Click "pgfgameengine" at the top of the list of files and then click the Checkout button.
10. Select a folder on your hard drive in which to store the source code files.
11. Wait as the source code is downloaded.
Part C: Set up REALbasic
12. Amongst the downloaded items is a folder called Required REALbasic Plugins. In it you will find the OpenGLSurface plugin. Copy this plugin into REALbasic's Plugins folder.
13. In the Required REALbasic Plugins folder you will also find a Web Internet Location file connecting to the Monkeybread Software Web site. Download the MBS REALbasic plugins from this site and place them in REALbasic's Plugins folder.
Part D: Build the Game Engine and run it
14. Launch REALbasic and open the Game Engine Source Code.rbvcp file. Hit Build to compile the source code.
15. The finished application will reference the included Game Data folder, which contains the default Eskimo vs. Snowmen game. Congratulations, you've successfully obtained and built the game engine source code! |

Hello,
Thanks for this steps, it's working.
I have the source code for now.
So, i am not very experimented in code, but some friend will help me for modifiate some stuff.
The first things i want to modifiate is the variables. For now we just have 26 variables (A to Z), and it's very limited for what i want to do (and in generally it's too few).
I think it will be more complicated to change the variables handling, so i think it will be more "easy" to add new variable name (A1 A2 or AA AB etc...).
So my question is the following:
Can you give an easy way to change this? I don't ask you to change it for me (i think you have others things to do, or you maybe busy). So i just need a way to do that,or where i can find this (add new variable name in a list?).
I just need a way to begin my work.
Thanks for you all your works,
Regards,
Mich |

I'm going to look into some mods too at some point, thanks for opening it up Jesse.
I hope it doesn’t mean you're not going to keep developing it yourself though? I can understand there might not be time, or other things might be more pressing. I've ran into similar issues myself lately. (baby shaped ones) _________________ Need tech help with ZH-pgf version? Post here. | Creeping Me Out!(webcomic) |
